MICHAEL HARDY
VIEW STRATEGIES AND SPECIAL PROJECTS
Michael Hardy began his career with the Memphis Police Department on August 9, 1982. Upon completion of training on December 20, 1982, he was assigned to Uniform Patrol at the South Precinct. As a Police Officer, he worked various assignments which included North Precinct and Organized Crime Unit. He was also temporarily assigned to the Special Patrol.
Deputy Chief Hardy has over 38 years of service with the Memphis Police Department.

1996
Promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he worked various assignments Vehicle Theft, Felony Response, Street Crime Abatement Team, Organized Crime Unit and Burglary.

2000
Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he worked the North Precinct, West Precinct and Organized Crime Unit.

2008
Promoted to the rank of Major. As a Major, he was assigned to Airways Station and Airways Administration where he was acting Lieutenant Colonel.

2010
Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he was assigned to Raines Station Administration before being assigned to Organized Crime Unit/Vice.

2013
Appointed to the rank of Colonel. As a Colonel, he was assigned to Appling Farms Administration and Organized Crime Unit/Vice.

2016
On March 24, 2016, Colonel Hardy was appointed to the rank of Deputy Chief of Special Operations for the department.

2023
On February 18, 2023, Deputy Chief Hardy was appointed Deputy Chief of Strategies and Special Projects for the department.
